Invisible Wounds Holistic Center was established from a profound desire to integrate mental health support with physical health care. In the fields of emergency medicine and public safety, conditions such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD are often mischaracterized as merely “brain problems,” leading to the stigmatization of individuals who struggle with symptoms beyond their control. We recognize that mental health issues are holistic, affecting the entire body. Prolonged stress can induce changes in the nervous system and hormonal imbalances, which contribute to these symptoms.
Jenna Hawton Calingasan, the founder of Invisible Wounds, brings a diverse healthcare background to the organization. She has experience in direct patient care, healthcare administration, and emergency medicine. Jenna worked in the ICU as a telemetry tech and has served with the Contra Costa Medical Reserve Corps. She has deployed as an EMT and mental health provider during the Lake County fires and to the Napa evacuation shelter where she provided minor medical care and mental health first aid. Additionally, she has owned/operated a massage therapy practice that catered to a wide range of clients, from those who are medically fragile to competitive bodybuilders.
